Mui Ne, once a sleepy fishing village, and Phan Thiet, famous for pungent nuoc man (fish sauce); have in recent years become popular beach destinations. The dirt track that tourist had to master to reach the area’s handful of hotels not too long ago has now turned into a paved road with a wide sidewalk, perfect for a nice evening stroll. A good range of accommodations has sprung up, representing everything from backpacker-style guesthouses to luxurious resorts.

One of the greatest draws to Vietnam is our culture. Bat Trang, a trade village and long-standing popular destination, now has a new lure for visitors who desire a glimpse into the country’s cultural richness.
Recently, I heard about a service that was so unique to try it.
There is a new way to view Bat Trang village’s ceramics: by buffalo-drawn cart. As I stood observing the unhurried grazing of buffalo’s owner, Dam Van Phuc, appeared and invited me to join him on a somewhere between the horse carts in Da Lat, Vietnam and the cow carts in Japan. It was made of wood with two five-seat benches and covered with a steel roof. Our buffalo lumbered forward, his steps heavy. The tour began.

Vietnamese people are said to be the offspring of a dragon and a Fairy. Central to the nation’s founding myth; the dragon is an important symbol in Vietnam.
More than 1000 years ago, dragon images were used to decorate the royal palaces of Vietnam’s Dinh and Early Le courts. According to legend, in 1010, King Ly Thai To saw a dragon ascend from a site in what is now Hanoi. The new king chose this auspicious for the capital of the Dai Viet Kingdom.
